A few days ago, WhatsApp announced on its official blog that rolling out some new features to groups on its platform.
These new updates on WhatsApp will give the group’s members and admins more excited, enjoyable, and important options for chatting with others on WhatsApp.
“Groups have been an important part of the WhatsApp experience, whether it’s family members connecting across the globe or childhood friends staying in touch over the years. There are also people coming together in groups on WhatsApp like new parents looking for support, students organizing study sessions, and even city leaders coordinating relief efforts after natural disasters. Today, we’re sharing improvements that we’ve made to groups.”
According to this update, the WhatsApp users become able to add a description of their group chat.
This description should include the purpose, guidelines, or the topics of the group, which will appear at the top of the chat for all the members.
New features give the admins more abilities in controlling the group chat, such as restrict who can change the group’s subject, icon, and description.
In addition to that, admins can now remove admin permissions of other group participants, and group creators can no longer be removed from the group they started.
WhatsApp chatters now become able to catch up on messages that mention or reply to them by tapping on a new @ button that appears at the bottom right corner of the chat.
It enables WhatsApp chatters to Find anyone in a group by searching for participants on the group info page.
Based on this feature users can’t be repeatedly added to groups they’ve left.
In the same context, WhatsApp said that its new features are available for Android and iPhone users from the announcement’s date.
WhatsApp is trying to keep its position in the tough competition in the world of online messaging services. That’s crystal clear from the beginning of this year when the platform takes one of the biggest steps in its history by launching WhatsApp Business App.
