Content Project Editor

Western Schools is looking for a Content Project Editor in Massachusetts, United States. If you meet the requirements below, you will be eligible to apply via Digital Marketing Community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead content development, editing, and production of nursing continuing education course materials and collaboration with stakeholders to meet workflow, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Design detailed development schedules.
  • Evaluate the project needs and procures and schedules appropriate external resources for copyediting, proofreading, and permissions.
  • Support project schedules, course tracking, and reporting.
  • Associates in contracting authors and recruiting peer reviewers.
  • Create and maintains excellent communications with authors, nurse planners, peer reviewers, and production vendors, as well as Western Schools’ editorial and marketing staff.
  • Operate under the direction of the managing development editor to develop and edit courses according to Western Schools’ guidelines.
  • Determine, assesses and manages potential risks to projects and interdependencies, recommends possible solutions, and implements resolution.
  • Perform effectively with authors and planners to achieve course development goals, implement appropriate workflows, and regularly communicates schedule and quality updates.
  • Accountable for building and maintaining strong and collaborative relationships with authors, planners, and peer reviewers.
  • Track detailed development processes, working in close collaboration with nurse planners, to ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of course content.
  • Oversee project development and reconciles requested changes in collaboration with the nurse planner.
  • Supervise detailed project file maintenance, contractual documents, schedules, and tracking spreadsheet; reviews submissions from authors, peer reviewers and planners.
  • Aid in the on-going negotiation of project scope changes, including assessment of the impact to budget and schedule.
  • Organize turnover to production and proofing of all projects.
  • Coordinate information and coordinates end-of-project activities.
  • Assure that all information is kept current in shared databases.
  • Secure that processes are implemented and standards are met.
  • Excute process efficiencies for quality assurance.
  • Produce regular feedback on an author, peer reviewer, and vendor performance to management.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum 3  years of project management experience.
  • Effective experience in print production, including scheduling, developmental editing, proofreading, and permissions preferred.
  • Proficient experience with formal project management software and/or techniques.
  • Deep working knowledge of contracts, forms and agreements.
  • Expert knowledge of managing change and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with working effectively in a team environment and directing outside vendors and freelancers.
  • Outstanding knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Proven skills to work with basics of Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the publishing industry, continuing education or related field strongly preferred.
  • Solid organized and persistent.
  • Sound writing skills, with unrelenting attention to detail, including grammar, style and punctuation.
  • Great problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Able to clearly communicate in a variety of styles and settings with the ability to interpret and translate information to teams and individuals and to report effectively to management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, provide feedback in a constructive manner and relate product requirements succinctly and effectively.
  • Ability to anticipate, adapt and implement new processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Able to successfully manage, organize, prioritize, and handle multiple projects and tasks including complex interdependencies between projects.
  • Ability to work efficiently and switch directions as needed.
