For sure, you have already heard of Artificial Intelligence, even if you aren’t exactly sure what it is. The term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ has become something of a buzzword. AI is a ‘hot right now’ topic and marketing trend.
The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) was first coined by ‘John McCarthy’ in 1956 when he held the first academic conference on the subject. And simply AI is the ability of a machine, a digital computer or computer-controlled robot to perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings.
In other words, AI is a computer system that can do tasks that an intelligent human can do. Some of these tasks include learning, speech recognition, planning, and problem-solving.
Mary-Anne Williams, professor of social robotics at the University of Technology, Sydney, said that: “An intelligent computer system could be as simple as a program that plays chess or as complex as a driverless car…”
