Job Responsibilities:

• Cooperate with the team to help deliver significant new features for the business.
• Produce third line support for existing web applications when necessary.
• Accountable for writing high-quality code adhering to corporate and regulatory standards, and the peer review of others code.
• Assure existing and newly developed solutions are reliable, secure, performant and maintainable.
• Create strong working relationships with colleagues, business users, and other technical teams.
• Participate in the overall output of the team (e.g. through knowledge sharing, mentoring, etc.).

Job Requirements:

• Grade C or above in Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) and educated to AS and A level (or equivalent).
• Effective knowledge and understanding of PHP, particularly when developing within a Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP stack.
• Proficient knowledge of database design and working practices, particularly MySQL.
• Deep experience to develop Javascript based frontend applications particularly using the jQuery framework.
• Proven understanding of professional development methodologies, tools (e.g. SVN, PHPUnit, Jenkins) and wider SDLC.
• Demonstrated experience developing scalable, secure, high performance, database driven web applications, using PHP frameworks, Silex and Symfony particularly advantageous.
• Expert working for using templating engines and formats, in particular, Smarty, Twig and Handlebars.
• Familiarity with automated testing solutions, in particular, PHP Unit and Selenium.
• Advanced understanding of web application design patterns and object-oriented programming (OOP) model principles.
• Deep knowledge and experience interfacing with Oracle and Apache Solr.
• Solid experience developing RESTful and SOAP APIs and integrating with third-party APIs.
• Strong knowledge and experience using Sass and delivering an AJAX-driven solution.
• High ability to effectively write W3C compliant HTML and CSS with an understanding of browser support and standards.
